Jay Blades: Learning To Read At 51 is the emotional and revealing BBC One film that documents Jay’s struggles as he learns to read.

Like millions, Jay has dyslexia but this wasn’t diagnosed until he was in his thirties. This meant that he left school with no qualifications, and has spent his entire life avoiding reading, and creating strategies to cope. Now, at the age of 51, Jay is committed to learning to read, with the goal of finally being able to read his daughter a bedtime story, however, the process is tougher than he could ever have imagined.
